White Bird Design

I love design, illustration and typography!

I began my career working on a drawing board using pen and ink, watercolor, and the 19th-century British art of scraperboard illustration in my design work, as well as traditional typesetting and film cutting.

Now I use the Adobe Creative Suite to produce design for print and the web, and drawing and painting is done with the natural media software, Corel Painter. I appreciate its flexibility, ease of combining media, and portability, while maintaining the hand-tool-eye relationship of traditional art media.

I’m grateful that my work has earned over twenty-five awards in illustration, design, and typography from a variety of organizations including the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the University and College Designers Association (UCDA), the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and the Northwest College Theatre Festival.

I am the graphic designer in the Office of Marketing and Communications at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
